Public  Meeting on November 5, 2013, 6:00-8:00 PM at Kihei Community Center on Lipoa by Sarofim Realty Advisors

Ever since our community learned of a plan to build two adjoining huge commercial shopping malls mauka of the Pi’ilani Highway on each side of Kaonoulu in North Kihei, it has clamored for a public meeting. Now after about two years the proclaimed owners, Sarofim Realty Advisors of Dallas Texas are announcing a two hour meeting, allowing one hour to answer all public questions, on Tuesday evening, November 5, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kihei Community Center on Lipoa by the swimming pool complex. The opening portion is expected to be a presentation of tentative plans for the land, influence of several requested meetings with KCA affecting those plans, as well as what they will report to the State Land Use Commission (LUC) in December.

While Sarofim has advised KCA in a series of meeting over the past few months that they have owned the land for years, the firm which did the public communication in 2012, Eclipse Development of Irvine California, had strongly refused any meetings or any community input, and were notoriously quoted in the Maui News saying so. Sarofim’s Robert (Bob) Poyner and on- island owner’s representative Charlie Jencks have advised KCA that Eclipse has been dismissed by Sarofim, and is no longer involved.

KCA commends Sarofim for scheduling this meeting, and we encourage our members and the entire community to attend. If you have had concerns for years, here is your opportunity to voice them, and hear their plans for development. KCA agreed to and did meet with Sarofim each time they requested this year. and while we believe their latest general outline of plan for the twin developments is an improvement of their original plan for our community, we stii see many challenges with the latest one we were offered. We look forward to see what they will show the entire community and the media on Nov 5.

KCA submitted comments before the required deadline of 10/23/13 for the EIS PN on this development which can be read by clicking the link below.
