Manini fixes to aid walking & cycling are appreciated

While we await some positive feedback from County government for two projects near the infamous intersection of South Kihei Road (SKR) and Kaonoulu in North Kihei (SEE https://gokihei.org/environment/email-the-mayor-no-stop-light-or-culvert) we see a positive action this morning to help facilitate a little safer bicycling and walking makai SKR just north of the temporary “bridge” crossing the Kulanihakoi river gulch.
A mini grove of kiawe sprouted up here and branches extended across the narrow shoulder into the roadway offering cyclists and walkers the choice of getting snagged with thorns or venturing out into the roadway. A crew was on site with a lane closure to bring in equipment to remove and dispose of the invasive growth.
Yes, we still consider it unsafe to bicycle with traffic or walking against it here, but it is a little less treacherous now. Mahalo DPW.
Now how about the blowing sand on the south end of the “bridge”…
