Don’t miss this first public general membership meeting of 2014 on this vital topic, now drawing national attention because of the disastrous results occurring on Oahu now. SEE: http://local.msn.com/fast-moving-erosion-threatens-hawaii-coastal-homes-1
We begin with this major environmental issue for our seaside town, coastal erosion. On the usual “third Tuesday of the month,” January 21, KCA welcomes the public to enjoy pupu and talk with neighbors when doors open at 6:00 PM, with meeting starting at 6:30 PM at the Kihei Charter Middle School at 41 East Lipoa. Guests are University of Hawaii Sea Grant Extension Program-Maui, Coastal Geologist,Tara Owens and Maui CountyLead Shoreline Planner Jim Buika, offering a power point presentation, “Managing Coastal Erosion in South Maui”.
This will also begin our 2014 Maui Food Bank drive, encouraging you to remember a few cans of food to deposit at our welcome table each month at the continuing monthly community meetings. These meetings are open to the pubic, but we suggest sign up for or renew you membership for the benefit of our community. You can take this action on this website or in person at a monthly meeting.
Yes, there was an error in a KCA newsletter on 1/1/14. Perhaps a hangover, or too busy watching football, but an incorrect date was listed for this meeting. But you know it is always the THIRD Tuesday of the month, right? We hope to see you Tuesday evening Jan 21
