What is up with building close to the shoreline in South Maui? After waiting a decade for the Waipuilani bike path, the County administration says no can because sea level rise is coming. Yet just north of here the time share project at the site of the old Maui Lu is OK to build a structure along the water’s edge?

The County Planning Department will be at the Kihei Community Center at 5:00 PM next Thursday (11/14/19) concerning rule changes to account for sea level rise. The most conservative estimate of the rise is 3.2 feet by 2100, while 3.2 feet may be reached much earlier unless global climate change is reversed or radically slowed.

When will South Kihei Road and North Kihei Road no longer be contiguous paths?
