I adopted the beach that was available with the Pacific wheel foundation they have this program called adopt a beach where I volunteered to clean once a month and I was able to choose one that’s nearby because I only have a bicycle no car, so I got Kalepolepo Beach.
Good Job!! mahalo
The best thing is to organize a work party. I will be picking up litter on Pulehu Rd. past the county dump in the regular 1st Saturday clean up of Pulehu Rd. I will be helping with the clean up from sugar beach to past the boardwalk March 9 with the MOC. Recognize the county, particularly public works, is pretty much constrained due to the demands of the wildfires and the shortage of both people and money.
Mahalo for continuing to set the example for the community, Buck
Need the mayor to take action about negligent lot owners who have lots in Kihei which have a large quantity of dead and live trees which pose a fire threat to surrounding properties. They also have other dangers like open man holes and they are being used to store stolen bikes and motor bikes and they have several homeless living on them on a permanent basis (we have photos to back all of this up). He needs to address this problem by fining the owners for not maintaining their properties.
Mahalo for your communication Liz. I trust you reported your concerns to County officials, Police , etc & have not seen satisfactory results. Our community meetings always allow those attending to ask questions to officials. When you check in you will be provided with a card to compose questions to the Mayor
A sediment settling area between Piilani and SKR, if designed properly, will go a long way toward improving the situation. There is a similar (larger) such pond mauka of Honoapiilani Hwy just past the Pali on the way to Lahaina, it is near the firing range and it collects large amounts of sediment. Of course such structures need maintenance but it will help the situation a lot if done properly. This looks like real progress.
Mahalo Stephen. We agree. While we reflect on Pete Townson’s words about repeatedly being misled, we are cautious optimistic.
What time will Mayor Bissen be speaking?
Meeting as always starts at 630 PM, but indications are full house
Once capacity hit no admittance per fire marshal
What time can you start going in? Sorry, this will be my first time attending.
Good question! Exact time depends on when the volunteers arrive to set up. but probably about 545 PM
