With well over 100 attending to hear candidates vying for county & state offices for Kihei and beyond, the October 21 community meeting afforded the opportunity for everyone to personally question each candidate in preparation for the upcoming November 4 election.  After board member Laura Marzke offered some community announcements, President Jon Miller announced the annual community celebration set for November 1 at the Kihei Youth Center beginning at 5:30 PM (see details on the website, www.gokihei.org .) Then the “speed dating ” format began as each pair of candidates circulated to each group of community members for lively Q & A sessions for the 9 seats relevant to South Maui.

On a disappointing note, contributions for the Maui Food Bank were way down this month.  However, we can rectify this at the luau on Saturday evening November 1st. Please help in these difficult economic times with a few cans of nourishing food while enjoying  an evening of good food, prizes, live music, dedications to save our reef systems, and aloha. If you don’t have your tickets yet, you get purchase them on line at the website or call Shadan at 879-5390.
