11/1/13 UPDATE Now identified as bill 13-142, the full Council unamimously passed the Animal Control Bill for first reading, and is expect to become law before end of the year.

10/17/13: This morning council-member Stacy Crivello’s Housing, Human Services and Transportation Committee addressed three items on the agenda, all related to animal welfare. The single item that was concluded and unanimously approved by the seven member committee and also two non voting members, concerned “Animal Control.” This action amended many current regulations by adding new definitions and modify existing ones, increased potential legal punishment for abuse and neglect and made adjustments to the volunteer Animal Control Board. The bill now moves on to the full council for two required hearings.

Two other items pertaing to County Grants administered through the Housing and Human Concerns Department incurred much discussion, likey to continue for a few future HHT meetings.
