Does this sound like a good thing to you?  The State Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) announced  a parking lot repair project beginning at Makena State Park on Monday, July 8, 2013.  The $63,977 project was awarded to Vares Contracting and is slated for completion by July 19. This phase involves the reshaping and regrading of road shoulders located on both sides of the entry road to the first parking lot. The project will limit parking during construction. KCA receives mixed opinions, with some saying that more parking is needed, especially on weekends and holidays- were you there on July 4th?- and others offering that improved parking just brings even more motor vehicles and worse overcrowding of the state park, often identified as Big Beach and Little Beach in Makena.
