Much interest in the Community Plan Process at public meeting

Last evening’s (2/19/13) general membership meeting to explore the Community Plan process, as the 1998 Kihei Makena Communiy Plan is scheduled to be revised included a very attentiveaudience.  As the six member panel, composed of Area Council-member Don Couch, Sierra Club’s Lucienne de Naie, architect George Rixey, Director Will Spence and long range planner, Kathleen Kern from the County Planning Department, as well as Maui Tomorrow’s executive Director Irene Bowie responded to a series of KCA questions on the KMCP and planning in general, many in the animated audience reacted strongly, until their turn came to ask questions of the panel members.

Look for a complete report of the meeting in next week’s Maui Weekly
