What do you think would be the topic for a panel composed of representatives for Kamehameha Schools Maui; County Administration; Maui Tomorrow; MECO; UHMC: Sierra Club Maui and a Kumu? Well this was the group who discussed this topic and tried to answer that general question and an onslaught of more specific ones from the assembly.

We  attended this Standing Room Only event Wednesday evening at the Cameron Center to hear from the group and it was certainly interesting and informative. If you missed it, watch for a video on Akaku, Maui Community Media.

Each of the panelists,  Christopher  Reynolds (MECO); Kumu Hapono’ai  Molitau;  Rob Weltman, (Sierra Club Maui); Albert Perez (Maui Tomorrow);  Dana Santo (Kamehameha) and Alex de Roode (Maui County Energy Commissioner) offered a short opening comment on things to consider and options available to transition Maui from imported fossil fuels to 100% renewable energy, and then responded to audience questions, relayed by meeting moderator Mahina Martin (MECO).  In fact there were so many questions that the meeting was extended from the planned 90 minutes to over two hours.
