October 14, 2018 #kihei #energy #solar As reported in the Maui News today, the Innergex energy company has made it to the final award stage of MECO’s request for bids on renewable energy. This will be erected on 200 acres just mauka of Maui Meadows, connecting to a nearby MECO substation. The solar panels add up to 15 MW of power, with batteries able to store and provide four hours of full output (60 MWH) when the sun is not out. Council committee progress derailed by non-attendance

9/17/2018 #kihei The Monday meeting of Elle Cochran’s Infrastructure and Environmental Management committee heard public testimony on managing tourism and on use of the Banyan tree area in Lahaina, but had to be adjourned with no committee action because of lack of quorum. Of 13 meetings of the committee, Mike White and Riki Hokama missed 10. At the other end of the spectrum, Yuki Lei Sugimura attended every meeting. How can Maui address the major issues facing us if senior Council members do not attend the meetings where their presence is needed to discuss and make decisions?...
