Second KCA Committee Meeting with KIRC this afternoon.

KAHO’OLAWE ISLAND RESERVE COMMISSION;  EDUCATION AND OPERATIONS CENTER UPDATE  11/27/18 We were pleased  this morning to note the Maui Planning Commission unanimously approved KIRC’s request for an SMA  permit for the project to proceed. Moreover, the fact that the Commission agreed with our concern about the proposed parking lot by adding a condition that it be designed with “low impact development concepts,” we believe the project is even better. Final 2018 General Membership Meeting on Education

11/21/18 #kihei For those  who were present at St Teresa’s for this final meeting of the year, most would agree it was certainly educational, even though we did make some last minute adjustments. While some segments did go according to the original plan with the presentation by Department of Education Complex Area Superintendent Kathleen Dimono, coordinated with updates from Zack Gonzales of Goodfellow Brothers  on the current construction work on their high school in Kihei, we also heard from Gene Zarro on the existing brand new Charter School on Lipoa Parkway. Final Alliance Meeting for 2018 draws a crowd

11/21/18 #kihei  With no December meeting planned,  last Monday’s Alliance of Maui Community  Associations meeting closed out the year with the room full of participants. The Association members were voicing concerns for the new County Council to our South Maui member Kelly King, who is expected to be the Council chair for 2019. Dick Mayer from Kula continues to champion the Alliance, and he pulled out the stops to get guys from near and far to the Kaunoa Senior Center for the 6:00 PM meeting. Oneloa Coalition Monthly Meeting at New Location Last Evening

11/15/18 UPDATE.   Last evening the Coalition was back in the regular room, the familiar PWF classroom, with continuous 2018 guidance of Albert Perez leading the meeting. Albert has continually urged all the entities of the value of continuous representation of the same reps from each sector and regular attendance each month. The logic for this was brought forth when Russell (from State of HI) brought up strong differences from the groups general conclusion of the presentation last month by Jim Mothersbaugh on compost toilets.
