What do these markers indicate along shoreline at Maui Lu? 7/24/18 #kihei  The mystery of the future of the Maui Lu, a former resort property in north Kihei near Kalepolepo park, continues. Comments of start days have gone on for years, but no action takes place. In the last week, we noticed these ground markers are appearing along the shoreline, but we are not sure what they mean. Not Only South Maui Sees Great Need for High School in Kihei

Maui High Principal Talks Overcrowding 7/21/18 #kihei #school #highschool As we see construction of the new Charter School up in the R & T Park ready to welcome students next month, the State Department of Education (DOE) fiasco on the same side of Pi’ilani Hwy continues. At the intersection of Pi’ilani Highway and Kulanihakoi, the little blue sign mocks the students, parents and teachers who wait decade after decade for the high school. The latest prediction is phase one by 2021, but we did hear 2014 years back. But it is not only South Maui suffering. This week Maui High School (MHS) principal Jaime Yap laments another upcoming year of vast overcrowding as the centrally located school which hosts the vast majority of South Maui high school students. Gridlock hits Kihei early Friday Afternoon

Deadly vehicle collision closes Pi’ilani Highway UPDATE   Highway was open shortly after 5:00 PM 7/20/18 #kihei A motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Pi’ilani Highway and Welakahao Road shut down Pi’ilani Highway, the main artery through South Maui, early Friday afternoon, the Maui Police Department said. Reports are there were fatalities and that the crash involved two vehicles and a motorcycle. Traffic is being rerouted down Kananai Road and Lipoa Street, according to a Police Department Facebook post at about 1:30 PM. Candidate Forum Meeting Fills the Room

7/18/18 #kiheiLast evening at our current general membership location, St Theresa Church Hall, over one hundred registered voters gathered to hear the seven state legislature candidates. For the District 11 House Seat we had Don Couch, Lee Myrick and Tina Wildberger on the Democratic ballot, and Daniel Kanahele as a non partisan. For Senate District 6 there were two Democrats: incumbent Roz Baker, challenged by Terez Amato; for the Green party, we had Melissah Shishido.
